Geofence
The Jonas Club Premium App (App) may use geofencing technology to enhance a member’s experience. Geofencing is a feature that uses a device's GPS or location services to create virtual boundaries around specific areas (called "geofences"). Here’s how it works and how it relates to a member’s privacy:
1. What Is Geofencing?
Geofencing allows the app to track a member’s location in real-time and provide specific services or notifications when a member enters or leaves certain areas, such as:
- Receiving promotions or notifications when a member enters a specific location (e.g., a club house or event).
- Triggering location-based features (like arrivals, location tracking, or special offers).
2. How Does the App Use Member’s Location?
When a member enables location services for App, a Club may use a member’s location data to:
- Trigger notifications or actions when a member enters or exits a geofenced area.
- Improve the relevance of content or services based on a member’s location.
- Collect aggregate data on location trends to enhance app features.
- Enable background location tracking for specific services such as real-time event notifications and location-based service enhancements.
3. Do Members Have Control Over Geofencing?
Yes, members have control over whether the App uses geofencing:
- Opt-In: Members can choose to enable or disable location services at any time through their device settings.
- Opt-Out: Members can turn off location-based services altogether in their device settings, which may limit certain app features that rely on geofencing.
4. What Data does the App Collect?
For geofencing, location data is collected, which may include:
- Precise location: GPS coordinates when a member is near or within a geofenced area.
- Time and frequency: When a member enters or exit these areas, and how often they do so.
5. Is a Member’s Location Data Shared?
A members location data related to geofencing is generally used only for the purpose of delivering the service. A member’s precise location is not shared with third parties, except as needed to:
- Provide specific location-based services through third-party partners (e.g., for navigation or local promotions).
- Comply with legal or safety obligations.
- Facilitate operational efficiency by anonymously reporting congestion levels for improved staff deployment.
6. Can Geofencing Be Disabled?
Members can turn off location services at any time in their device’s settings. If a member disables location services, geofencing features (such as location-based notifications or offers) may no longer function.
7. How Is Member Location Data Protected?
Reasonable steps are taken to protect a member’s location data using encryption and secure methods. We will only store location data as necessary for app functionality and will delete it when it is no longer needed.
