Widget Type - Announcement Bar

The Announcement Bar widget can display up to 4 announcements, with your choice of a (grey) Attention, (green) Reminder, (yellow) Caution and/or (red) Alert announcement bar. The widget is configured by adding each announcement and adding/selecting the announcement type and message, and adding optional fields of hyperlink text and hyperlink URL. Only one announcement bar will display, regardless of the number of announcements. If there are multiple announcements, the announcement bar will rotate between each announcement. The number of announcements will be indicated in the far left of the announcement bar. A user can click the CLOSE button to permanently close an announcement. If there are no more announcements, the announcement bar will disappear.

Configuration


Any field marked with a red asterisk (*) is required in order to save the widget. Once all the applicable fields have been configured, click Save & Close to save the widget. Once an announcement has been added, hover over the existing announcement to Edit or Delete that announcement.

Default
  • Add item: Click to add a new announcement
    • In the Announcement Bar dialog box
    • Announcement Type:Choose between Attention (grey), Reminder (green), Caution (yellow) or Alert (red)
    • Announcement:* Enter the announcement message; there is a 65 character limit
    • Content Expiration: Enter date and time for the announcement to be expired. If all Announcements are expired, then the entire widget will be hidden.
    • Hyperlink Text: Enter text that will display as the link; there is a 15 character limit
    • Email Link: Select this checkbox if the link should go to an email address. Additional options will be displayed after this box is selected. These fields are optional.
      • CC: Enter email address to be added as a carbon copy
      • Bcc: Enter email address to be added as a blind carbon copy
      • Subject: Enter subject line that will be pre-populated 
      • Message Body: Enter content to be pre-populated in the body of the message. 
    • Hyperlink URL: Click Select and choose where the user will be directed to when they click on the link 
      • Web: To link to an external site
      • Media Libraries: To link to a PDF
      • Content Tree: To link to an internal page; select the page on the Content Tree that you want to link to
      • To link to an email, please check the 'Email Link' box and enter the email address in the Button URL field (eg. [email protected]).
    • Click Save

Advanced (Optional) settings
  • Margins:​
    • Top: use slider to select margin measured in pixels
    • Bottom: use slider to select margin measured in pixels
  • Override Padding: check the box to use the following settings:
    • Top: use slider to select padding measured in pixels
    • Bottom: use slider to select padding measured in pixels
